I was out in the front yard a few days ago watching Aden (6) and Isadella (3) ride their bikes. We don't get alot of traffic on our dead-end street and when a car comes the kids know to get off the road. Aden has mastered the get-off-the-road skill, but Bella Mae is still learning. When a car approaches, Bella usually jumps off of whatever bike she is on and runs off the road, leaving the bike in the middle of the street.
As I was watching these two ride, I hear a truck approaching from one end of the street. I yelled (yes yelled) at the kids to move. Aden rode his bike into the grass and Bella hopped off her's and ran, leaving the bike in the road. So, I walked down to the road and moved it out of the way. As the truck resumed its course the driver held up his index finger in a typical southern thankyou gesture and I waved back. Isabella watched the whole transaction and then asked me
Why dat man hold up a number?
