Walking

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours our speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.

King David Psalm 19:1-2

As a walked this morning a pair of doves flew up in front of me.
Now I admit that I would rather be sitting on a five gallon bucket, in mid-September with my 12 gauge shotgun, when I hear the sounds of doves but….

You may not know that doves make noise. When a dove flies, his wings chirp.

When I heard the chorus of dove wings this morning my thoughts went to this passage of scripture. Creation does indeed declare the glory, the manifest perfections of God.

While creation certainly isn’t the limit of God’s self-revelation, thankfully, I love to hear the shouts of the rocks and the doves for they remind me of the transcendent yet immanent God. The God who is Immanuel, God with us.
