Painting in the Dark

What is the truest thing about you?

I really like this question. Paul Thorson author of Painting in the Dark asks this question. The context is in contrast to what your past says about you, your failures say about you or even what you think about yourself. What is the truest thing about you?

That God loves me,
with all my personality defects,
when I perform poorly
when I perform well and can't remember who He is
when I'm moody
when I'm cynical
when Satan tries to convince me that He can't
when I don't have a quite time
When I beat my chest and thank Him that I'm not like the sinners

You see, the truest thing about me is that I am hidden in Christ,
covered by his righteousness
and all of this, by no doing of mine,
but it is a gift of God.
