The Speed of Life

Posted by Steven G.

I know that I promised vacation stories, but to be honest, life is speeding by so rapidly that vacation seems a distant memory. After getting back, I spent a week working on a sermon. I just couldn't justify the blog time when the sermon was dragging so much. After finishing the sermon, it was all that I could do to get my act together to spend all this week in Atlanta at General Assembly (I hear the violins playing in the background).

Anyway, vacation was great although tiring. This year, instead of going on the usual trip to the Gulf, we yielded to Laura's dad's offering to come to Daytona. Disaster loomed early. We set out at 5 am hoping that Bella would sleep for a while, she didn't. Just outside of Atlanta several strange dashboard lights came on in our van. 8:oo Saturday morning isn't the time to have car trouble. God is gracious, we pulled off the road at Douglasville and found a full-service gas station (you know, one with a garage). These guys got to us in about 15 minutes, ran a computer diagnostic, identified the problem, removed all four wheels to check the brakes and got us back on the road for $20. I couldn't believe it.

Overall we had a great trip. We spent a lot of time on the beach and in the pool, we went crabbing (the boys favorite), some of us walked all the way to the top of the tallest lighthouse in Florida, we spent a day at St. Augustine, went to the Daytona boardwalk, spent a day at the water park and went to a good museum in Daytona. If you want the real stories on the events you will need to ask Laura for the details (her idols took a beating)!

Great time, gracious father-in law, glorious Father!
